Less than two years after this post they now have 11 titles when searching their catalog for 'Drupal' in the Ottawa Public Library. It is great to see how big the demand is for this great CMS.

I am quite excited to see Drupal adoption taking off in different verticals in our society. We're feeling a sudden surge of interest within government, but we have also noticed a big increase within libraries. There are communities of users sparking up and library specific modules being developed.

The flexibility of Drupal, particularly with CCK/Views makes it a great resource for people who need to systematically catalog and organize information. Being able to sort and classify data based on a very flexible taxonomy allows for a lot of control.

OpenConcept is starting to develop a bit of a library of books and resources for our team and clients. Last week I decided to check if Ottawa's Public Library had any copies of any Drupal books. They didn't, so I decided to donate the Lullabot DVD & a Pro Drupal Development book (the new 2nd Edition).

I'm hoping that this donation will increase the number of people who are exposed to Drupal (both as developers and potential clients).  The public library has developed a great distrobution mechanism.  Hopefully it will be a small measure to building a better Drupal community here in Ottawa.
