Bullfrog Powered Websites

Ever since hearing about Bullfrog Power I've had these visions of thousands of frogs jumping around within little hamster wheels generating power. However, no need to call the SPCA, the electrons aren't being driven by our amphibian friends. Rather, OpenConcept has signed up with an innovative company which is gathering individuals and organizations willing to pay a premium for clean energy.

A photoshoped windmillIf you live in Ontario, which most of our team does, you can buy 100% green electricity from this new company which buys it's power "exclusively from wind and low-impact hydro generators who meet or exceed the federal government's Environmental Choice Program EcoLogo standard for renewable electricity."

The nature of our power system is such that we can't guarantee you that any of the electrons that are powering our headquarters are actually generated from these clean energy sources, but we can confidently tell you that we are always looking for new ways to decrease our ecological footprint, even while we are increasing your websites impact.

Last summer I took a shortcut and just photoshoped some windmills into the Ottawa landscape and posted them on flickr using the tag visualizewindpower. Building them takes a lot more time, but programs like Bullfrog's give the incentive to make it happen. If you don't have the opportunity to purchase green power, I would encourage you to photoshop it in so that we can begin to see the world we need to live in.
