Bringing in Twitter Into Social Marketing Mix

Even earlier this year I was pretty convinced that I wouldn't be twittering because I thought it was going to be a waste of time. Who has the time to send out 'interesting links', quick dinner ideas or to follow what people are thinking about, even in issues I'm passionate about.

Well, apparently in 2009, I've found the means to bring Twitter into my life. I did so because I saw the efforts I was already putting into Web 2.0 tools and realized that I could link these applications together. I was already using Del.icio.us to keep track of sites I might want to go back to or share with others. I was using, Digg to promote information that I thought was especially interesting. I used Facebook's status updates to provide little "hey, this is interesting" links from time to time. By linking these in together I can make it more transparent how I am involved in a number of social networks.

I do like to test out new applications myself before getting our clients involved so that we can provide good strategic direction. There is a big upsurge of folks using Twitter these days in Government, business & in the Non-Profit Community too.

I don't have a lot of room for redundancy in my life, so I need to know that if I'm adding things to Twitter I don't also need to be updating my Facebook status. Fortunately, there's a nice Twitter Facebook application and a good how-to to help people set this up.

In reading about increasing Twitter followers I realized that I hadn't done the most obvious thing which was tell people that I was using it.
